Anticipation: Tina & Scott

The North Shore of Minnesota is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to relax and enjoy the great outdoors. Although I've enjoyed many different activities Up North, in all four seasons, until recently I had not yet attended a wedding along the North Shore. But this past weekend I had the treat of not only attending, but photographing a beautiful wedding on the shores of Lake Superior.

I just got home this afternoon and immediately started sorting through photos and editing my favorites. I was going to wait to make a post until I had a handful of photos ready, but I love the one below so much, I just have to share it as a little preview of what is to come.

If you remember my photos of Alex and Gabbie's wedding earlier this summer, I had a similar "anticipatory shot" for them too. Something about those back shots is such a teaser ....

I'll be back later this week with more photos!

Married: Gabbie and Alex

Alex and Gabbie were married on June 4th, 2011 in St. Cloud, Minn, and I had the honor of documenting their day! Alex is one of my few boy cousins in a sea of girls ... 15 grandchildren and only four of them boys. Needless to say, he's stepped up to the plate as a protective brother to many of us and I just know Gabbie will be taken care of forever. Gabbie and Alex share the same sense of humor -- the first time I saw G was in a video of her taking a ride in a dryer, and here's Alex dressed up as a hick at my rehearsal dinner:
(The guy on the right is my cousin Erick, Alex's best man who is also getting married this summer. You knew this photo would make a reappearance some day!)

They had a wonderful wedding and I smile when I look back at these photos.

Thanks to my dad and sister Kirsten for helping me with photos that day. Kirsten helped out prior to the service and my dad took almost all of the photos at the reception. Couldn't have done it without you guys!

Note: Alex has the most amazing family -- his parents divorced when he was young, but both of his remarried parents have a wonderful relationship. You will see his mom and step mom both walking him down the aisle, and then dancing together at the reception (in the slideshow).

The pastor is my grandpa! He married all five of his kids years ago and is now onto his grandchildren. Gpa L married Evan and I four years ago, so it was a special treat to watch him marry another cousin.

Enjoy the photos and the slideshow below (the second song was used in their ceremony as the bridal party walked down the aisle).

Congratulations Alex and Gabbie ... errr... Mr. & Mrs. Becker!

Anticipation

I had the honor of documenting my cousin Alex's wedding a few weeks ago and am currently editing away! Just thought I'd drop in with a little teaser ...

.... anyone else singing "turn around ... every now and then I get a little..." however that songs goes.

I promise there will be more soon! You know, with faces and everything ; )

Engaged: Hannah + Andrew

It was hard for me to title this post Hannah + Andrew, because for the longest time I've known Andrew strictly as Dub ... or WK, DubK, Dubbie ... or any derivation of the nickname. But I figured now that he is officially marrying one of my best friends, Hannah, it's time he gets promoted to Andrew. ; )

Thanks to H and A for being beyond patient with me as I edited their photos. As you can see, these were taken a while ago -- when it was still brown outside and the last of the stubborn snow still lay in patches.

But we were blessed with a gorgeous, sunny day down along Saint Anthony Main in Minneapolis and I had a great time strolling along taking pictures.

As you may have noticed, I ventured over to this area a few weeks before to take photos of Alex and Gabby. I didn't mean to go to the same place back-to-back, but Hannah's parents live in a loft overlooking the river so it was the perfect spot. We made sure to go to some new areas, like an old bridge in the woods that is a little less popular than the Stone Arch Bridge.

H and A are getting married in October -- can't wait!

Enjoy the slideshow!

Something New

I've been teaching myself some new photo-editing techniques lately. Thanks to Hannah and Andrew for being patient with me as I edit their engagement photos from a few weeks ago ... I've been having a lot of fun experimenting on their photos : )

Here's one I've done so far. It kind of has an antique look:

I should have more soon!

Engaged: Alex + Gabby

I had a blast taking pictures of my cousin Alex and his beautiful bride-to-be, Gabby, the other weekend. We ventured over the the Stone Arch Bridge in downtown Minneapolis where bikers, strollers, and various photographers were enjoying quite possibly the warmest weather of 2011! (Seriously, lots of photographers about, including a group making a documentary film that included some fiddling and African drums -- pretty sure Alex started dancing!). Thanks for a great afternoon guys -- and can't wait for June 4th!

Girls of Felland House

A few years ago I did a photo shoot for my youngest sister, Sarah, and her roommates. At the time they were sophomores at St. Olaf College, still at the start of their journey on "the Hill".

Now they are seniors.

This past fall I had the privilege of visiting my alma mater for another fun photo shoot. This time with their entire house (Felland) and a few other friends. Enjoy these photos (and slideshow) ladies -- and the last few months on campus!

(this one is similar to a pose they did 3 years ago. See above).
